CM ready to introduce radical reform: FM
DC CORRESPONDENT CHENNAI, AUG 29
The Minister for Finance Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said that the government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin is ready to introduce radical reform.
Addressing a webinar organized by Dravidian Professionals Forum on "Administrative Reforms in Developing Democracies" on Sunday, he said the CM is ready for radical reform and he is not ready just to do gradual transformation because he understands that radical reform is the need of the hour.
The Minister said the people elected them because they thought that they could make a difference and bring structural reform, a DPF release said. He noted that ideas are the lifeblood of every movement and the century old Dravidian movement requires continuous replenishment. It has had
an extraordinary round of success and it is very rare that movements last for about 100 years and achieve what it has achieved in terms of inclusive growth, social justice and relatively unique progress in the Indian context.
The minister went on to say. "In less than four months of assuming the office. I had to process almost 1,000 paper files and the files are thick. It is almost humanly impossible to process them with any degree of diligence and they range from matters involving one individual or a few thousand dollars to matters involving a billion dollars with consequences for tens and millions of citizens and there is no distinction between either the speed or the robustness of the process at which these files are processed."
The online meeting was organised by advocate P Puhazh Gandhi and S Dharanidharan of DPF Among others Dr S Narayan, former economic advisor and former Union finance secretary, Ms Louisa Chinedu, special assistant to the president of Nigeria, Blessing Oluwatosin, state coordinator, policy and local
economic development advisor, Nigeria, Muhammad Azhar, policy officer, ministry of social and family development, Singapore and Binderiya Batsukh, head of
judicial Cooperation and public relations department, judicial general council of Mongolia, spoke in the online conference.
