‘Kalaignar embodied Dravidian movement 

CHENNAI: Iconic Dravidian leader and former chief minister M Karunanidhi 

had an unparalleled ability to connect to the people and transformed the thoughts and principles of 

Dravidian movement into Policies and Schemes to benefit society, finance minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said

on Wednesday.

He was a keen listener, and his approach always reflected a democratic way.

He always got inputs form panchayat presidents and senior bureaucrats on issues before taking a call.

After taking everything into consideration, he added a different dimension to a programme and never

lost his roots, said the minister during a panel discussion on ‘Remembering Dr Kalaignar Karunanidhi, the

Father of Modern Tamil Nadu. It was organised by Dravidian Professional Forum as part of the fourth death

anniversary of the late leader.

Kalaignar was an extension of the Dravidian Movement. He continued his efforts to ensure that the ideology

that nurtured him endured. He was a person “quick to get angry and even quicker to forgive” those who hurt him.

“He manoeuvered the political minefield with his unmatched ability and took the right decision at the right time,” he said.
